The heartier sister to our Blonde, Brune is made with 50% freshly milled heritage Turkey Red wheat — giving it a warm brown crumb, nutty depth, and wholesome character, while keeping the same crisp crust and custardy, chewy crumb. It pairs beautifully with robust cheeses and savory spreads!

A single loaf is roughly 615 grams post-bake.

About Turkey Red Wheat

Turkey Red Wheat is a heritage grain known for its rich, nutty flavor, and wholesome nutrition. Brought over a century ago to the United States by Mennonite settlers, it's prized for its hearty texture and excellent baking qualities. We mill it fresh as needed to keep its natural oils, nutrients, and flavor at their peak — giving Brune a distinctive aroma and chewy crumb!

Short-Term Storage

Store whole loaves at room temperature for 2 to 3 days inside its paper packaging, or wrapped in a towel or beeswax wrap. Slice only what you need, and do not store in plastic to keep the crust from getting too soft.


Long-Term Storage

Store whole or sliced loaves in the freezer for up to 1 month inside a plastic zipper bag. Never store your bread in the refrigerator — it will only stale faster! Learn more about staling here.


Reheating

Reheat slices kept at room temperature or in the freezer any way you like — in a toaster, oven, or pan — to your desired doneness. For whole loaves, thaw at room temperature first if frozen, then lightly spritz with water and reheat in an oven for 5 to 10 minutes at 350°F (175°C), or until warm and crisp.
